What it is
A measured building survey is a precise, laser measured record of a building’s dimensions, layout and structure, delivered as scaled CAD drawings. It is the accurate base drawing set that architects, engineers, developers and managing agents design and plan from. It does not assess condition or defects. It answers one question with certainty: what is actually there, and exactly how big is it.
ASG Consulting produces RICS regulated measured building surveys across Liverpool and Merseyside for buildings of every type, from Georgian townhouses around Rodney Street to apartment blocks on the waterfront and commercial units in the Baltic Triangle.
Where existing plans are missing, outdated or simply wrong, we replace them with a current drawing set you can rely on. The result is a dependable base layer for design, planning, refurbishment and facilities management.
Accurate measurement of building layouts, elevations and key structural features
Laser measurement on site, supported by photography for reference and quality control
Support for renovation planning, lease negotiations and space optimisation.
Correction of outdated or inaccurate existing plans, replacing unreliable records with current data
A dependable base layer for design, planning, compliance, refurbishment and facilities management decisions
We arrange site access and manage communication with residents or occupiers where the building is in use, so the survey runs smoothly without disruption.
Floor plans, elevations, 2D drawings and 3D model information are produced in CAD and checked for accuracy before delivery.
You receive accurate, current drawings, correcting outdated or inaccurate existing plans where relevant, ready for your design, planning or management use.
The client outcome
A measured building survey records a building’s precise dimensions, layout and structure as accurate CAD drawings. It is used for design, planning and management, and does not assess the building’s condition. A homebuyer survey (RICS Level 2 or 3) instead inspects and reports on a property’s condition and defects ahead of a purchase. If you are buying a home and need a condition report, see our Residential Building Surveying service instead.
We use laser measurement on site, supported by photography, to capture layouts and key structural features precisely in line with RICS and industry (TSA) measurement guidance.
Yes. A common reason clients commission a measured survey is to replace outdated, missing or inaccurate existing building records with a reliable, current drawing set.
Yes. On projects for RTM companies and managing agents, we handle resident liaison and booking arrangements throughout, combining accurate measurement with clear communication so occupied buildings are surveyed with minimal disruption.
